Scott & Sargeant: From export renewal to confirmed go-live

Scott & Sargeant Woodworking Machinery needed to renew the commercial electricity export arrangement for its solar PV site in Horsham, West Sussex. Open Power coordinated the new agreement, obtained the metering documentation requested during onboarding and followed the process through to confirmed live status.

At a glance

  • Commercial solar PV - Established generation site in Horsham, West Sussex
  • MOP documentation obtained - Existing metering contract supplied for onboarding
  • Renewal coordinated - Contracting, authorisation and registration handled together
  • Live status confirmed - Confirmation received from the offtaker on 30 April 2025

The renewal: A contract was only part of the process

Scott & Sargeant’s existing export agreement was due to end in April 2025. The business accepted a new export quote and signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), while Open Power progressed the contracting and registration.

After securing the price, the incoming offtaker requested a copy of the site’s Meter Operator (MOP) contract. An agreement with the metering provider was already in place; the outstanding task was to obtain the document and supply it for onboarding.

What Open Power handled

  • Coordinating the agreement and registration Open Power requested the new quote, coordinated the signed PPA and quote documentation, and submitted the online registration form. It also handled the Letter of Authority needed to act on the customer’s behalf.
  • Obtaining the existing MOP contract Open Power contacted the metering provider directly and resent the signed authorisation when requested. The provider confirmed the existing metering agreement and supplied a copy, which Open Power forwarded to the offtaker. This addressed a specific documentation requirement within the renewal, without a new metering contract being needed to answer that request.
  • Following up after submissionOpen Power checked whether the offtaker needed anything further and continued following up after the paperwork had been submitted. The process remained open until the offtaker confirmed the site’s live status.

The value: One point of coordination

For Scott & Sargeant, the commercial agreement and the supporting administrative work were handled together. Open Power took responsibility for pursuing the requested metering document and following up with the incoming offtaker. The customer had an export specialist connecting the requirements across both organisations, with a clear status update at the end of the process.

The outcome: Confirmed live status

On 30 April 2025, the offtaker confirmed that the site was live under the new export arrangement. Open Power passed that confirmation to Scott & Sargeant on 1 May. The renewal had progressed from an accepted quote and signed agreement through the requested documentation to a confirmed operational outcome.
