Leigh Road: Connecting an 80 kW solar site to the export market
How Open Power brought Leigh Road’s existing export metering and commercial contract together, with ongoing support for renewal.
Establishing a managed route for commercial solar export
Leigh Road is a commercial site in Rugby, Warwickshire, with an 80 kW solar PV system. Open Power put the site's commercial export arrangement in place and continues to manage the route for surplus electricity as the site moves between contract periods.

The requirement
Putting a commercial agreement behind an export-ready site
Leigh Road already had an export MPAN, identifying its export metering point, and half-hourly metering to record exported electricity.
The site needed a commercial agreement for the sale of its surplus power, supported by the existing metering and data arrangements.

What Open Power handled
Site and export review: We brought together the site's generation capacity, export capacity, MPAN and metering information to establish the commercial export position.
Metering alignment: We coordinated the existing meter operator (MOP) and data arrangements with the requirements of the export contract.
Commercial arrangement: Open Power sourced and put in place the export arrangement for the site's surplus electricity, coordinating the necessary documentation and contracting.
Ongoing contract management: The arrangement was monitored through its existing term, with the next commercial period reviewed ahead of expiry.

The value
One commercial route connecting the site to the export market
Leigh Road did not need to manage its export MPAN, metering structure and commercial arrangement as separate pieces. Open Power brought those elements together into one managed export process and continued to oversee the arrangement beyond the initial contract.

The outcome
A structured export arrangement with continuity built in
The site's surplus solar generation has an established commercial route to market, supported by the required metering and contract structure. As the existing term approaches its end, Open Power is also managing the next arrangement rather than leaving the customer to restart the process.
